clean, considered ceramics made by hand for your home

10% of all sales are donated to LANGSTON, a non-profit arts organization cultivating and showcasing Black brilliance in Seattle’s historically Black Central Area

SHOEN ceramics is a line of small batch, thoughtfully made wares designed to bring harmony to your home. I believe in clean lines that celebrate raw materials, and in a considered balance between textures, colors, and organic and geometric shapes. Minimal ornamentation lets form and function shine, and an elevated simplicity invites both special occasion and everyday use.

I handle each piece dozens of times over a weeks long creation process: planning and sketching the project, weighing and wedging the clay, throwing the shape with wet clay, drying, trimming the shape on leather hard clay, drying, firing, waxing and preparing for glaze, glazing, firing, and finally polishing the bottom of the piece on a diamond disc.

Inspiration

I am inspired most by the sleek, unadorned lines of Scandinavian midcentury furniture and by the colors of the Pacific Northwest landscape.
